First organic Swine Flu sanitizer promises global sales demand

Dienstag, 8 Dezember 2009

Yorkshire based Bentley Organic, has launched the first organic hand sanitizer proved to kill Swine flu.

The UK government's Veterinary Laboratories Agency has issued a certificate confirming the product's ability to kill the H1N1 virus as well as 99.9% of other germs.

The anti-bacterial sanitizer is made with 90% organic ingredients and contains Aqualin - a product which replaces synthetic preservative systems such as parabens and phenoxyethanol, with natural fruit acids and plant derived surfactants.

The Aqualin technology, which has been formulated by the Yorkshire company, moves away from synthetic chemistry into green chemistry, and the company is in talks with several global organisations both in the UK and USA,  to licence the chemistry for well known brands.

Jamie Bentley, chief executive of the Stephenson Group and Bentley Organic, said: "With swine flu coming back into the spotlight and with the winter months fast approaching, we hope that people will use the new product, confident in its abilities to kill the H1N1 virus whilst also being gentle on the user.

"After a culmination of years of work, we have developed a product that is affordable, organic, moisturising, and really works."

Bentley Organic products were born out of more than 150 years of soap-making experience in Yorkshire by its parent company The Stephenson Group.

In the late 1960's the group moved away from the textile industry to develop chemistry's that would have different applications worldwide. Its recycling chemicals have recycled enough newsprint to stop the felling of 550 million trees.

The group, which employs 75 staff, continues to develop and manufacture technical products for various industries and overseas markets particularly the Far East.

Aqualin is a bi-product of the firm's existing chemistry for naturally removing bacteria from bagged salad, the vast majority of which is washed in chlorine prior to packaging.

Further development of the technology showed it could be used for household cleaning and general sanitizing replacing synthetic chemicals such as ammonium quaternary compounds.
