Yorkshire vision correction firm Ultralase has acquired Eye Laser Ireland for an undisclosed sum.
The deal sees Leeds -based Ultralase become the largest provider of laser eye surgery in Ireland with five clinics. It now has 32 across the UK and Ireland.
Ultralase has added three new clinics to its fortfolio with the deal, adding premises in Dublin, Limerick and Cork.
Ultralase's chief executive, Tony Veverka, said: “For Ultralase, this takeover represents a clear vision of our wish to establish a network of clinics in Ireland.
"We are keen to bring the expertise and reputation of Ultralase to Ireland and look forward to working with the established teams in Dublin, Cork and Limerick to combine our joint passion of treating eyes and transforming lives."
Ultralase Ireland director, Gerry Kervick, said: “The new clinics in Dublin, Cork and Limerick will follow the high standard of care already offered in our clinics. At Ultralase we are dedicated to providing the very best clinical care through investment in local medical teams and in the latest laser technology.
“The recent takeovers clearly highlight the strategy Ultralase is intent on pursuing. We believe there is still a strong demand for specialist providers in the current economic climate where quality is foremost in the minds of the public.”
Ultralase, which is majority owned by 3i, entered the Irish market with its acquisition of the Waterford Eye Clinic and the eye laser surgery clinic at Shanakiel Hospital Cork from the Quality Healthcare Care Group (QHCG) last year.
This followed the acquisition of the Quality HealthCare Group flagship clinic in Belfast.
