A brewery equipment supplier has secured an order from the US after showcasing its state-of-the-art cask washing equipment at the Munich Drinktec Exhibition.
Leeds-based Microdat received enquiries from all over the world after unveiling the new product and has already received an order from the Summit Brewery in Minnesota.
Founder and managing director Steve Midgley said: “We received enquiries from all over the world and particularly from emerging countries such as China, India, Russia and Africa, where beer sales are flourishing.
“We exhibited jointly in Munich with Ecokeg UK - manufacturers of the recently introduced one-trip keg. The inner part of this revolutionary and recyclable beer container is manufactured by Esterform Packaging in Leeds.”
Yorkshire has the largest concentration of food and drink businesses in the UK contributing £2.7bn to the regional economy.
Year-on-year the food and drink sector is forecast to grow three times faster than the national average (12% versus 4%). Yorkshire also boasts the UK’s highest concentration of breweries, which produce around a third of the country’s beer.
