A Yorkshire natural chemicals group has announced it has had a positive third quarter with demand growing for its services.
Croda announced that its sales were £246.7 million for the three months that ended on September 30th, which is a rise of 25.2 per cent compared to the same period last year, while pre-tax profits went up by 73.2 per cent to £24.6m.
On top of this, favourable currency translation increased turnover by 12.7 per cent.
"Whilst we recognise the uncertainty relating to global trade at present, demand remains robust in all our core markets and we are confident of making further progress, both in the fourth quarter and in 2009," commented Martin Flower, the chairman of Croda.
The company was formed in Yorkshire in 1925, originally making lanolin, and in the 1950s it expanded to the US with a sales and marketing operation.
It now claims to be a worldwide leader in natural-based speciality chemicals.
