Hull's Albert Dock gears up for more trade with key investment

The region's first MultiDocker, a towering material handler with a reach of 25 metres, has been installed at Albert Dock in Hull as part of a £1m investment.
The arrival of a MultiDocker CH65 is part of a joint enterprise with Goole-based RMS and Österströms from Sweden.
Both Österströms and RMS are intent on bringing new volumes of trade to Hull, through Albert Dock.
Albert Dock is close to the power stations of Yorkshire including Drax and will be vital to the import of biofuels and for other environmentally friendly energy solutions.
The machine, which is capable loading and unloading ships of up to 9000 deadweight tonnes, is the only one of its kind in the region and with it's special quick-release attachments it can load or discharge a huge variety of cargoes in record time and with precision control.
Anything from sawn timber to scrap to fine gravel and more can be moved swiftly and efficiently, all handled with the dexterity of a giant hand, and greatly reducing health and safety risks as well as the risk of any damages to the cargo.
RMS chief executive Peter Aarosin said:"We believe in the future of the Hull ports and we are investing in this great port.

Mr Österström, who helped design the MultiDocker, said: "We are delighted to bring this highly efficient MultiDocker to Hull. It creates a huge advantage for Albert Dock and no doubt will help bring new volumes to the port, enhancing its capabilities."
