Meadowhall Metropolitan on track
Montag, 23 August 2010
Plans for the land development project around Sheffield's Meadowhall Shopping Centre are underway, it has been confirmed.
Property developer British Land, which has a 50% stake in the shopping centre, has outline planning permission for the Meadowhall Metropolitan project to build around 1m sq ft of offices, 1,300 homes and a hotel on the 60-acre site.
Darren Pearce, centre manager at Meadowhall, said although there is no date set for the start of work, organisations with interest in the development are working together on the masterplan for the Lower Don Valley area.
Mr Pearce said that the resumption of work on the Trinity Leeds shopping development project, led by Land Securities and Caddick, showed an increasing confidence in the sector.
He added: "Trinity Leeds and Eastgate (Hammerson's mixed-use development in Leeds) shows that developers and property owners are willing to move forward on these schemes.
"We're ready to go here but clearly it's something we need to move forward with and stack up."
