A Yorkshire print specialist, which provides publishing services for local titles including the Rotherham Advertiser and South Yorkshire Business Magazine, has acquired its Wakefield-based rival in a move which is expected to boost sales to more than £45 million.
Rotherham-based Garnett Dickinson has moved to take over Acorn Web Offset, part of the Guardian Media Group, in a deal financed by HSBC and advised upon by law firm DLA Piper and the corporate finance team at Hart Shaw.
The deal will strengthen Garnett Dickinson's position in the market, allowing them to pursue major contracts and generate new jobs in the area.
Nick Alexander, chief executive of Garnett Dickinson, praised the efforts of all parties in ensuring the deal took place using local firms and resources.
Mr Alexander added: "Whilst we look to grow our business we are confident that the teams at DLA Piper and Hart Shaw can continue to provide pro-active, strategic advice to the board in what are potentially uncertain times."
Richard May, DLA Piper's head of corporate M&A in Sheffield, said: "This deal was a real team effort by ourselves and colleagues at Hart Shaw, and we see it as being a great example of how the skills and expertise of the professional services providers in Sheffield can bring about a great result for clients."
