Westex Carpets buys Yorkshire mill

Cleckheaton-based Westex Carpets has purchased a Yorkshire mill for an undisclosed sum, it has emerged.
Calder Bank Mills in Deswbury, West Yorkshire, was put up for sale in July 2009 after its previous owners S Lyles Sons and Co Ltd went into administration.
Meanwhile, China-based Hangzhou Fuxing Group bought the entire plant at the mill - comprising of carpet yarn carding, spinning, twisting, winding and dyeing plant - for around £2 million in another deal. The plant was shipped to the Far East using 115 containers.
Chartered surveyors Eddisons, which also handled the disposal of all plant and machinery, completed the sale of the mill acting on behalf of administrators BDO.
Jim Asquith, director of machinery and assets at Eddisons, said: "The plant and machinery generated huge interest and we had visitors to the site from all over the world, many of whom had been targeted through our electronic database."
The new mill owners are understood to continue to use the dye-house facilities on site.
